Hello Flower Lovers!
The windshield on the “pickup” Fit was absolutely frosty this week on our way to Frankfort with our little flower haul on Tuesday. Even so, the flowers seemed to be ok, so we are still growing. This is the time of year when it could all be over any day so we are really appreciating every flower that is coming off the farm right now. At the time of this writing, there are more dahlias in the fridge than at any time in our history as growers. Like, 12. Each one is so beautiful too. A juicy white star with a yellow center, a creamcicle orange one, and a few nice burgundy ones are chillin in there together.
We did a flower installation on the sign at the brewery this week which we were both so excited to work on together. What better job is there than the one when you are excited to prepare for and then execute the task at hand? I do not have a long list to report on. News on the street is that the couple loved it and we made their vision come to fruition. We even popped in some fresh flowers on the brewery deck to freshen things up.

I did a little more homework this week, making my FlowerMore still life for this month’s design challenge. During my weekly act of combining all of the house arrangements made from the flowers we can’t sell, I was inspired to set up a little photo shoot using a tile from my nana and papa Labbato’s kitchen floor that my grandpa installed in their house when I was just a little kid. Speaking of floors, our neighbor popped by this week and shared that he put the floor down in this house when he was a little kid. I am not gonna tell his business about how old he is, but the floor is definitely older than I am and it looks so good still, even after 6 years of us traipsing around it with all of these cats. There is something to be said about having a solid floor under foot!

Perriee got her still life submission finished too! Hers is one of the bouquets of flowers that was made with stems we cut in the rain.

Our big event with our friends was Sunday so there might not be too much recap about it, as I am working to get this post finished ahead of the day. I’ll try to pop a few pictures on, but hopefully you were here to experience it all and have the memories up in your brain to recall without the use of satellite.

Pride and Flock Update: We inquired about a lone khaki campbell duck who is up in Cincinnati this week. Not sure if she will make it here, but we have room in the coop for her if she does. She is quarantining up in Cincinnati right now. There has been daydreaming about donkeys and we have talked about a farm dog to help with the groundhogs, but honestly are not at all excited about the thought of a dog. Otherwise, we’re plugging along here with our regular crew!
