Hello Flower Lovers!
Flowers and Sound 2026 is in the books and we have already talked about the next event we will be collaborating with Graceful Serenity March 20th to celebrate the spring equinox. We might not have many flowers then, so we thought the creative activity will be to paint your own plant marker to take home with you.

It was such a pleasure having the opportunity to host such a beautiful day where we celebrated the transition of the seasons, the full moon and most importantly one another. The day opened with some gentle yoga on the deck where we introduced ourselves, getting to forage new connections with other spectacular humans we all share the earth with. Perriee and I slipped off to the house to get the snacks out and prepped for the herbal tea tasting.

After everyone had a bite to eat and a chance to chat Perriee talked us through a flight of holy basil, lemon balm, lemon grass and then ginger tea. Although we don’t grow ginger, I thought it would be nice to include as a delicious hot beverage that anyone can make by buying a root of ginger from the grocery store. Not everyone grows herbs that they can just get from outside their house! We had fresh examples of all of the herbs to touch and smell and Perriee read a little about each of the first three teas’ herbal properties out of one of our herbalist friend’s books from Gracious Farm in Ohio.
Following tea, we moved down to the warehouse where we got everyone started on their flower crowns. We really did not do much instruction beyond showing the available materials and a quick explanation of how you could attach things to the bases, and per usual, everyone created something absolutely beautiful! I never get over watching folks immerse themselves into an art project and we actually had to do a time check because it was getting close to the end of the event and we had yet to do the sound bath! We took all of our creations down to the deck along with our floral ring that we decorated together, and Kristen closed the day with her singing bowls. I have trouble laying still so opted to sit on the end of the deck and watched all of the pollinators flit around the flowers during the mediation. It was perfect! We hope everyone left feeling as full as we did.

Perriee is my hero and had all of the dishes washed by the time we saw everyone off. To round out the evening, we met Kristen up at the brewery for a drink and some food and got to hug and chat with so many other amazing people who were there from the community here PLUS so many other amazing faces that we knew and met from across the state who were there for a RUX retreat. To top it off, we got our signed copy of our dear friend Jerry’s book, Out Past the Gatepost.

“What about the flowers Marietta?” Perriee and I got to attend our first FlowerMore design challenge meetup on Zoom this week where we got to see everyone’s submissions for the month which were spectacular, as you might imagine. It was so much fun to sit in on a discussion about it all hearing about everyone’s different approaches to a common element of grasses. We did not post a design this time, but now that we saw how it all went, we are both looking forward to this upcoming design project: a still life! I also got to learn a little about harvesting asparagus foliage for floristry (low cuts in fall, shallower in the spring) and sedum (cut them to the ground if you want in the fall and they will come back just fine next season) from a Q and A FlowerMore video recording of a separate Zoom they had earlier this week. This community has already provided so much support and knowledge in the short time we have been a part of it.

The flowers are still blooming so we will be going back to Frankfort this week with a load of extras for the KFM market floor. There is lots of beautiful aster and the zinnias are popping along with a few other bits and bobs that are still looking fresh!

Pride and Flock Update: Max, Gray and George layed low throughout our event but Tux and Oscar were ready to party with everyone (and maybe the snacks). We put them in the back during our tea tasting but after we all had some food and were able to put it away, Tux came out and flopped in the middle of the floor to literally make himself the center of attention! The subject came up more than once to have people just come and pet Tux and Oscar to keep them full on human interaction. Let us know if you ever need a cat fix! We bought our first dozen of chicken eggs from a neighbor this week as our ladies are on fall break, reserving their energy for new feathers and some winter fluff.

Thanks for your recap of the yoga-tea-flower crown day. Beautiful write up, and I love that your photos both flowers, and people.
