CSA and we named the newsletter: BTS at Loving Farm

Important dates:

December 9 and 10 we are hosting two separate hand-tied evergreen wreath making classes where you will go home with your very own design to get you through the winter months. We have white pine and forsythia in abundance. There are still spots available at each session, both taking place from 2:00-5:00 PM, setting up in the greenhouse or the Flower Studio, depending on the weather. Rest assured, there will be fresh baked bread involved. Register here!

January 1, 2026: Monthly email subscription giveaway drawing!

April 25th, 2026: Earth Day. Kristen from Graceful Serenity Yoga will be kicking off the morning at 10:00 am with a soul centering activity on the deck. More to come!

Hi Flowerers!

Perriee and I wanted to share our appreciation for this community of support of our small farming business. It gives us the opportunity to care for the land, make improvements on the buildings, and take care of the pride, flock and one another. To be clear, support includes so many different things, one of which is opening this little email when time permits. I know how much noise flows into my old email account, tens of junk messages per day it seems, and realize sometimes finding an email that does not feel “spammy” is like running across a needle in a haystack! We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly editions of BTS (Behind the Scenes) at Loving Farm, as it is truely a pleasure to recap the week this way with you all.

We enjoyed so much hanging out at the brewery the other day for Small Business Saturday. It always feels a little like cheating life, getting to make a some of our living in such a supportive space from so many people we consider great friends. Thank you all. A couple of folks made their own wreaths at our diy wreath table which was is always so much fun to watch. There is something so magical in giving everyone equal access to the same materials to make a thing. Humans are so beautifully unique in our visions and abilities. If you missed out and still would like to make one for yourself, we still have spots open for our on-farm wreath making on December 9 or 10.

We are also planning a trip to Frankfort on Friday, December 5 to deliver some of our wreaths and catnip kickers to the Kentucky Flower Market. Make sure to check their end of season hours before heading that way. I think they are open Friday and Saturday through the end of the season, this month. Both of us love working with dried flowers so much and are so happy with our summer selves, who thought to harvest and hang so many beautiful ingredients. The pinecone and evergreen wreaths are headed that way as well. Be sure to check out what we bring, looking for the Loving Farm logo, if you happen to be in Frankfort, if only to look at the pinecone wreaths in real life. They are stunning!

There was a little downtime for the celebration of friends this past Thursday, where we got to have a leisurely dinner with a couple who invited us over to eat, only a county away! There is nothing like not having to travel too far for a holiday. They sent us home with a regular amount of leftovers for turkey breakfasts the rest of the week. It was all so good. We brought a sweet-potato pie and some bacon wrapped sunchokes, which we had planned on bringing to the brewery on Saturday for the potluck, but we ate them all at home, 10/10, highly recommend. Perriee and I dug them up out of the field on Wednesday. Such a gift from the Earth.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): Loving Farm is ready to dip our toes into a spring flower CSA for farm pickup. For $52 we are going to be offering a bi-weekly bouquet over several weeks, beginning on May 1 or May 8, 2026, with our last pickup on June 19th. We will have 10 total spots and if you would like to get your flowers every week, you can purchase 2 shares. Let us know if you are interested in one and we can reserve your spot now. We will collect payment in January.

With each share you will receive 4 paper wrapped market bouquets which you will pick up in the Warehouse, here at the farm on those dates. Ingredients will vary week to week, filled with both cultivated and wildflowers including but not limited to forsythia, tulips, fleabane, yarrow, peonies, ranunculus, spirea, dianthus, crimson clover and greenery. We will send a weekly email to you as a reminder and could shift the start and stop dates as Mother Nature directs.

Here are the dates we have chosen for each group:

May 1, 15, 29, June 12 (5 spots)

May 8, 22, June 5, 19 (5 spots)

Overnight visits: Staying at Loving Farm is still an option, but we have removed the bedding from the Flower Studio until we are able to seal it up from the floor. The mice are just too good at making themselves comfy (I do not blame them) and it is not a nice environment to host an overnight human guest. That area is perfect for dried flowers storage, bouquet making, and small get-togethers, which we will keep using it for in the meantime. Hopefully Oscar can put in a little overtime to aid us (in addition to some spray foam around the pipes). We will be bringing a cat tree down to replace the bed that was there. There is still camping available through Hipcamp, where you will have access to the indoor bathtub and sink and composting toilet in the Flower Studio, if you stay.

Pride Update (meow): It appears that Gray’s tummy situation is improving! The medicine never seems to diminish in the bottle, still getting her twice per day meals prepared exclusively by Chef Perriee. I am more of a server in the operation, hanging out table-side while she eats, ensuring the other customers don’t try to steal food off of her plate (or from the “kitchen” while it is prepared). Otherwise, George seems much better and is practicing his indoor cat skills again as the temperature continues to fall outside.
